Safer Internet Day is celebrated worldwide on the second Tuesday of February to raise awareness about cyber security. Pursuant to this, a workshop was organized by National Informatics Center (NIC) on 11th February 2025.Several Government officials were present.
In today’s digital age, with the increasing use of online transactions, social media, e-mail and cloud services, the threat of cyber crimes has also increased. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to be aware of internet security and take measures accordingly. Due to the advancement of technology, cyber criminals are looking for different ways. There has been an increase in incidents like phishing, data theft, banking fraud, social media account hacking, cyber bullying, and sextortion.
The Government of India and the Ministry of Information Technology have taken various measures for cyber security. Citizens are helped through initiatives like Cyber crime reporting portal https://cybercrime.gov.in/ , CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) and Stay Safe Online https://www.staysafeonline.in/. Cyber crime has become a tool to abuse people financially and psychologically by misusing modern technology. So everyone should take proper precautions for safe internet usage
